Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Yes it is..We're one week into it in case you haven't heard or seen it anywhere yet, in which case, which rock have you been hiding under?

I just wanted to point out, for those of you living in NZ or Australia, making a donation is as easy as going to your local Baker's Delight and buying a finger bun with pink icing. Only $1.50 and every cent goes to breast cancer research. Not just the profits .. every cent. Good on you, Baker's Delight. Oh, and while you're there, pick up a Caramel Cinnamon Teacake. Thoroughly decadent. Enough calories in one bite to last you a couple of weeks. You (and your doctor, who will retire to the Bahamas based on your bills alone) can thank me later.

UPDATE!! This blog has just been informed of a vaccine for cervical cancer! This is great news.. when it finally gets approved, it's even better news! I know this is breast cancer awareness month and that the cervix and the breast are in different parts of the body. Hopefully, scientists will work their medical way north quickly!

Kaf- The cervical cancer vaccine is great, but I fear it might never be licensed in the U.S. To actually irradicate the Human Papilloma virus that causes cervical carcinoma we would need to vaccinate men as well as they are the carriers who pass it to women. Men don't suffer any ill effects from the virus, but they might from the vaccine. In a litigation happy society that could spell trouble. I pray that it will be licensed soon and put to good use around the world. It would be a hugh first for medical science.

Sorry for such a long serious post. Thanks for your efforts in the fight against breast cancer. do you think one of those pink buns would make the trans continental trip?

It's something that touches us all, Mad.. some more closely than others. Thanks for the info.. I didn't know that men would have to be vaccinated too.. I guess we're lucky in NZ - thanks to the ACC act, it's very difficult to litigate for these sorts of things, so most people don't bother unless there's some negligence or malpractice involved.

Ummm.. if I vacuum-seal the bun and send it priority post, it would still take 7-10 days to make the trip and it might be a bit squishy when it gets there. Maybe I could make the sacrifice and eat one on your behalf instead. I will if I have to.

I say buy two and wear them on your head Princess Leia-style for Halloween. I'm sure Carrie Fisher would approve.
